“Many years ago, my idea of what it meant to be a doctor was formed by my experience of my own family doctor, a guy with a good handshake, and a kind and a thoughtful countenance. I consider being able to practice medicine, and extraordinary privilege, but maintaining an independent private practice has become an extraordinary challenge. Joining a group of physicians who share the sense of privilege and the joy of ‘finding things out,’ who are supported with the tools, technologies and talent to make the private practice of medicine sustainable, is why I joined Privia Medical Group.”

Personal Interests

Time has always been a premium throughout my career, growing a practice and being available to our patients, balanced with family life and a few close friends. My children are now young adults making their way in careers (non-medical) but still very much in touch with me and their mother. I have become a first-time grandfather, a condition associated with many smiles.

As a student in Junior High and High School, I was an avid amateur astronomer. My father enjoyed photography and taught me how to take and develop black and white photos. When I can find the time on clear nights I attempt to combine those interests and try my hand at astrophotography. But it’s often cold outside at night, so I spend more of my time reading, and when I can, I enjoy cooking.

Biography

Dr. Glenn Anderson grew up on Staten Island, NY and attended Fordham University in the Bronx where he received a B.S. in Biological Sciences. Dr. Anderson came to the Washington, D.C. area to attend Medical School at Georgetown University School of Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Anderson did his residency training at Fairfax Hospital with the Fairfax Family Practice Center, an affiliate of the Medical College of Virginia. Following completion of residency, Dr. Anderson started practice in Burke, VA. Dr. Anderson has been a staff physician at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

Dr. Anderson’s practice has grown with the community. He has been privileged to care for several generations of patients, some of whom Dr. Anderson first met during his training, and he now sees their children and grandchildren. The practice has become a collaborative practice of Family Physicians and Family Nurse Practitioners, with the goal of providing uncompromising care in a safe, friendly environment, of compassionate caregivers, continuous improvement, and unselfish mentoring. Achieving this goal provides for the needs of all stakeholders, healthier patients, happier staff members, trusted business associations, and a sustainable business.
